Leafs

One falls

It sure is windy in here

With hot air emptying out between ears

It crunches under my foot like our nice conversation

Each one marks a golden rule gone sad

As we treat each other like we treat ourselves

Bad

Shaking the boat a little too much

Both hands grasping for control of the trunk

Our mast made up of leaf

Started strong but piece by piece

Eventually enough pile up

And then she leaves

The lamb ate the beggar but left a flower for the king
